Ch-Ch-Changes...
I'm moving my blog over to Wordpress due to Blogger's ineptitude. I don't settle for mediocrity. Click here to be instantly transported. Thanks, Shanna!

Still in Recovery Mode...
I've slept over 24 hours this weekend..possibly more than I have all week long. Hopefully, I'll be 100% better tomorrow....ecspecially, because I'm guaranteed at least 2 hours of un-paid overtime tomorrow. Oh, the joys of legitamized writing.
In other news, I'm loving both the spring collection for Old Navy (hello, gladiator sandals and tribal prints) and Gap (candy-colored pants and cropped trench coats? Yes, please). I wish my bank account and the weather would catch up with my spring fever.

Cough, Cough...
I slept over 12 hours, and I still feel groggy/stuffy. Owen woke up this morning without the use of his alarm which is huge for him. He usually pushes "snooze" at least 5 times before getting out of bed which is fine during the week. But, on Saturday, when he has to be at class by 9 AM...well, I become evil girlfriend about the 3rd "snooze." Today, though, he was very thoughtful. Now if I had someone to bring me chocolate chip Poptarts, I would be set.
I was suppose to attend my brother's basketball game, have lunch with my mommy and put in a few hours at work (because I don't do enough unpaid overtime)...but instead I'm cuddling with the creature in bed. Minus beng sick, I would say this was an awesome way to start my day.

To all Blogger users:
I keep getting ridiculous spam in my comment section. How do I get the pornographic/viral comments to stop? Please help.

Sorry...
I've been MIA lately, because I'm sick. However, I had a swell Valentine's filled with chocolate, flowers and a candle-lit dinner. The O does not disappoint.
I'm extremely loopy on cough syrup and sleeping meds right now, so I'm going to stream an episode of "The Hills" and then crash out. I promise I will do better tomorrow. Hope you have a better evening.

Happy Valentines Day!
Wednesday, February 13, 2008
Yuck!
I'm feeling crappy today, and I worked way too many hours. Sorry for the lack of posts today. At the rate I'm going, I will probably be at home sick all day on Friday. No, really.
In other news, I will try to have a super special Valentine's story for you all tomorrow.

15 Goals to Accomplish in the Next 10 Years
I operate best with deadlines, so I'm going to verbalize the things I would like to accomplish in the next 10 years. By putting it out there, I'm hoping that I'll put enough subconcious stress on my over-achiever side to force myself to accomplish these goals..all of them...
At least that's the rational...
1.) Write a novel (possibly a memoir about my upbringing in rural South Texas. I provide an interesting perspective on the topic, because I'm one of the very few that escaped this self-sustaining culture).
2.) Own a home.
3.) Have a signature scent.
4.) Make a habit of annual health screens, 2-year rabies vaccinations (for the Brie) and 5000-mile oil changes.
5.) Seriously consider birthing children with the option of deferring the issue for a few more years.
6.) Visit France, New York City, Italy and Boston.
7.) Adopt another Boston Terrier. Name him Walter.
8.) See Zeppelin, Regina Spektor, Dylan, Neko Case, Radiohead, Amy Winehouse and Tegan & Sara in concert.
9.) Find a pair of jeans that fit my butt without cutting off the circulation to my hips.
10.) Freelance/work for a major magazine.
11.) Have a conversation with my parents that goes beyond "How was your week?"
12.) Ride a roller-coaster (due to a paralyzing fear of heights, I never have).
13.) Own a walk-in closet worth of clothing that is neither too trendy or classic.
14.) Overcome the glass ceiling, big boobs/small brain stereotype and "fat day" complex.
15.) Emit more or as much love as I am so blessed to receive.

Thought for Food
Owen finally perfected his pineapple/rum chicken. And let me say, it was delicish. He cooks dinner almost every evening. I am very spoiled.
I'm really feeling the newest Samuel Adam's seasonal brew, White Ale. It has a complex, rich flavor with a nice mellow end. Also, in the vein of beer news, I have a new favorite beet at Andy's, Haymaker. Very similar to Leininkugel minus the fruity tones, I'm struck by the hearty tones in this beer. So much nicer than my standard Bud Light bottle.

Side note
Amy Winehouse was brilliant at the Grammy's last night. I know that her stage presence was a tad more animated than usual (hello, she's sober), but her voice was incredible. I'm so happy that she, a non-commercial artist, won over a more MTV-friendly pop act.
So...
Sunday, February 10th
In no particular order....

A sleeping creature....

Hot/awesome drummer from The Underwater. The only show pic I got before my camera died.

Behind this pretty gate, a wrinkled monster lies waiting to eat Brie and I piece by piece.

I watch you while you sleep.

Chair.

Curbside mosaic.

Brie's favorite park.

Chair: The Sequel.

My feet mid-swing.

So, I went
to the show...pics to follow. But not many because my camera died. Sorry....
And now I hate life. I'm exhausted and probably have to work overtime this evening Blah!

Possibly The Feds/Underwater Night...
I'm trying to decide if I want to go to The Feds show at Andy's (for the third time this week, sigh) tonight. One one hand, I haven't seen them play in awhile, they're playing with The Underwater, I haven't seen a few on my friends in months and I'm well-rested after sleeping over 12 hours. On the other hand, it's Sunday night, work is bound to be a bitch this week and my liver is in need of a break. How do you balance work and play?
My weekend in pictures
A shot of the sunset through my dirty windshield.
We are a mac family, but Whit has a desktop surrounded by bible verse, and I have a macbook with penis pictures as my background.
Whitney Diane, future RN and all-around sweet girl.
Seriously, 5 minutes out side of Stephenville.
Me in my car with purse. Disclaimer: I know that taking pics while driving is dangerous...but there was NO ONE on that road..
O and I went to Andy's to catch coworker Corey's bluegrass band (The AM Ramblers). We were both very impressed. This is Jordan, a friend of mine by way of Andy's. He plays banjo in the band and wears cute Armani glasses. Note the extreme cigarette smoke wafting through the air.
The band resembles a small army with non-electric instruments instead of guns.
Coworker Corey in action. He plays a mean mandolin.

Owen Quotes Song Lyrics
So, I just had a very long conversation with my boyfriend about why he loves me. "You give me a quiet mind." -Blue October. His quote about us...Amazing...
Greatness I Stole
“ I’ve always thought that the real catches out there are guys who don’t make you feel like you’re lucky to be with them (even if you are). ” - An amazing quote that I stole from Julia Allison. She's uber-great, and I read her blog almost daily.
I'm home in bed, and I'm about to take the creature for a walk. No, not Owen.

Roadtrip...
I'm visiting my little sister in Stephenville, Texas; the smallest/most secluded college town I've ever seen. But she made me lasagna AND brownies, so totally worth the trip.
(whit's mac won't let me upload pics, but I'll be sure to post one of her later this week...we don't really look alike at all)

Happy Birthday, Chloe-pants
Getting ready in my tiny bathroom...
Final outfit for the evening...and O is being abrasive
Hi.
O.
Birthday girl with her crown.
Because it wouldn't be Chloe's birthday if we weren't forced to play games...
"Remember when we used to be cool band guys?"
My favorite part of the evening. Streamers!!!
Guitar hero on the big screen...Yawn! Time to go home...
Marchesca
Chloe's Birthday...
Chloe is 23. I bought a camera last night, so I'll put a few pics up tonight. Have a great day; as I struggle to stay awake.

Rules of 'Ships...
"Dancing at discos, eating cheese on toast; yeah, you make me merry, make me very very happy. But you obviously didn't want to stick around. So, I learned from you." -"Merry Happy" by Kate Nash (my obsession-o'-the-moment)
I strive to feel this way about all realtionships, both friendly and romantic, that come to a close. Reguardless of whatever drama ensued due to/because of the break-up, I want only to learn, so I never have to expierence it again. No unkind words or ridiculous pride...just peace of mind and intelligence.

In kindred spirit, I've learned,
- Don't kiss two different boys in a single day. They'll both find out and be equally as pissed.
- Be wary of "love." It is a cliche at this point.
- When you are the happiest, be cautious. The bottom will soon fall out of your joy.
- Choose the person who would never make you choose.
- Good girlfriends are twice as rare as good boyfriends.
- Never underestimate the power of a shared memory.
- Your stomach knows the truth, even when your heart is uncertain.
- Alcohol is always a good excuse for being bold but never for being trashy or hurtful.
To be continued...

My Partially-Retarded Boyfriend
Owen is incapable of taking a normal picture, yet somehow he is still adorable.

I didn't get dressed until after 6 pm, and that was only to go for a jog. Hopefully, I will continue to be well-rested for the entirety of my work week...despite the fact that Wednesday is going to be a rather long evening. Chloe is turning 23, and we are celebrating Andy's-style. I feel a sick day coming on.

It's a Saturday!
If you were listening in on my optometrist appointment this morning (but you weren't, because you weren't awake that early), you might have mistakenly thought we were discussing a great piece of artwork.
"Better 1 or 2?" "I believe that the first was better." "But this one does nothing?" "Correct." "Is this better yet?" "Yes, I think that the lines are a bit more defined, edges less blurred."
Not to mention, that I caught a glimpse of myself sitting in front of this contraption that resembled Peggy Guggenheim's famous glasses in cartoon form. In my half-drunk/half-hungover state, I found this quite amusing.

The aforementioned glasses.
Also, I had my pupils dilated. At first, it was a bit like being drunk (which was not all that fun seeing as how I was still a little drunk already), but then even inside light hurt my eyes. At Target, I bumped into a few people and what I thought might have been people but were actually shelves. I know that I looked a mess (and strung out) so I hid in the cosmetic isle so as not to scare the kiddies.
Still no new glasses, because I can't find a retailer that will take my insurance. Hopefully, I can resolve this on Monday. Perhaps, Peggy glasses are in my future.
In other news, I had way too much fun last night with Erica. I usually do when she's involved. If you add Andy's (with it's mountains of free shots) to the mix, BAM! Ridicu-osity abounds.
I'm off to bed to catch up on the hours of sleep I missed last night while damaging my liver....

At Andy's....
This is why girls like band boys. In one word, hot.

Corey called in sick to work, yet he was at Andy's drinking it up, weird I know...

An image of the O, via Shanna before he lost his cool. Reguardless, I love him.

Friday Night-Going Out...
Going out with the Erica tonight. Extremely happy about this...I miss hanging out with ladies and I had a LONG day at work!
I'll try to take awesome (or not awesome) drunk pictures...

My Fave Look from Catherine Holstien

Catherine Holstien
I really dig the look on the left. A short, full skirt in a fun pattern with opaque tights, but I think I would pair it with a fitted V-neck tee possibly in a more basic tone like white or black. I'm a fan of the glasses, though. I might end up with something similar to those (except smaller, and more everyday friendly).
If you're wondering where I get all my info and pics from fashion shows, try here and here.
